The FTIR spectral library „NICODOM
IR Paintings“ is an advanced and unique collection of 1172 or 2572 FTIR digital
spectra of paintings and art related materials.
It can be ordered
separately (1172 spectra) but is usually ordered as a cost effective package of
2572 spectra together with the library “NICODOM IR Pigments and Dyes” (1400
spectra).

The FTIR spectra were
collected using the FTIR Spectrometer Impact 410 and Nexus 670 ™ (Thermo) and
the Miracle™ single bounce ATR accessory (Pike Technologies) equipped by Si
crystal.
The FTIR spectral library
„NICODOM IR Paintings“ features resolution of 4cm-1 in the spectral range
600-4000 cm-1, measurement time 1 minute, the instrument was purged by dried
air.

searchable digital library compatible with your spectroscopic software or
digital book in *.pdf format.
The infrared spectral library „NICODOM IR Paintings“ includes spectra of
art materials used in historical and modern paintings and has been developed
especially for paintings renovators and conservators, art museums and for
forensic purposes (identification of painting falsificates).
The library includes infrared spectra of art materials like pigments
(historical, inorganic, synthetic), fillers, binders, glues, varnishes,
conservation materials, carbohydrates, proteins, gums, fats/oils, waxes,
balsams, natural and synthetic resins, dispersions, dyes (natural, from plants
and animals, synthetic), carbohydrates, building materials, cleaners,
emulsifiers, fibers, gels, inks, inorganics, minerals, paint mediums,
preservatives, retarders, surfactants, and many other related compounds like
typical solvents and polymers, cleaning agents, thickeners, retarders,
chemicals. Choice of typical ready made colors (oil, acrylic, water, tempera…),
is also available as well as materials used for ceramics and a unique
collection of inks.
Information about samples like common name, manufacturer/sample origin,
chemical composition, CAS number, type etc. is also included (when available).
This library is available
as digital searchable library compatible with your spectroscopic software. Also
it can be delivered with SEARCH software or in *.pdf format.
